Year 3 of Crosstix is Just under way! We’re excited for an even BIGGER and BETTER year, with even more performance opportunities. Let’s drum together!

What is CROSSTIX?

Crosstix is a performing ensemble for kids ages 8-16. It’s purpose is to give kids in the Omaha area an opportunity to learn, rehearse, and perform with members of OSP. Crosstix operates as its own entity, performing original material written and instructed by members of OSP. Similar to OSP, Crosstix performs using recycled items as percussive instruments such as trash cans, buckets, pots/pans, and a variety of other unique items. Students will be given multiple opportunities to perform their show for friends and family in a variety of settings. As a member of Crosstix, you will truly feel like a rockstar!
Who is Crosstix for?
Enrollment is for ages 8-16. No percussion experience is necessary.

Why CROSSTIX?

It’ simple, we wanted to create an environment where kids could experience the joy and benefits of music in the same way that we do. Here’s some benefits of joining the group:
  • You’ll be part of something truly one of a kind!
  • You’ll get to perform for family and friends
  • Quality instruction by members of OSP
  • An opportunity to be part of a group that’s purpose is to build character, develop musical skills, and make friends.
  • Get your own Crosstix performance t-shirt and custom OSP drumsticks

Time Commitment?

Rehearsals will be on Saturdays, mostly scheduled in the morning.  (see detailed schedule for specific times and location each week) We will continue to have 2 groups this year, with each group rehearsing at different times. The season will begin with a Parent/student informational meeting on Sunday, March 15th at 4:00pm. This meeting is designed to give parents an opportunity to learn about Crosstix, and to answer any questions. Students are welcome to come as well, as this will also serve a a meet-and-greet. The season will be March 21st through July 18th. We understand you may encounter conflicts on certain dates. We want you to know that we’re not expecting everyone to be at 100% of all rehearsals or shows. However, If you believe you will miss more than two rehearsals or shows, then Crosstix may not be a best fit for you and your child. See detailed schedule below.

I have two children that want to enroll. Can they be in the same group?

This will depend on the child’s age. This year, we will be having a younger group (8-10 yrs) and an older group (11-15 yrs) rehearse at different times, Back-to-Back. We are doing this in order to maximize the time spent together, and to offer a more efficient staff/student ratio. If your children are close to the same age and you would prefer that they stay together, please reach out to us. We may be able to make exceptions on a case-by-case basis.

My Child has no musical experience. Can he/she still participate?
Absolutely! Crosstix if for kids of all talented levels and musical experience.
Can Parents attend rehearsals?

We are open to parents sitting in during rehearsals as spectators only. We ask that you allow your child the independence to work with us and with other students. We will not allow parents to give instruction or to interfere in any way during rehearsals.

Do I need to pay the entire $250 to up front?

No, Your first installment of $50 will be paid during registration. There will be 4 more installments scheduled throughout the season, about 3-4 weeks apart. These installments will be billed via email and can be paid by either credit/debit card or PayPal. Check is also accepted.

We have multiple schedule conflicts. Can I still enroll my child?

We understand that summer time is a very busy time for everyone. In order to have a quality experience, it’s important that your child attends the majority of rehearsals and shows. If you think you will miss more than two rehearsals and shows, then Crosstix may not be the best fit. Please list any dates that might be in question in the registration form provided.

Do I need to attend the parent information meeting March 15th?

No, but we highly encourage it. This meeting was beneficial to us last season as we were able to meet many of you and share our vision and goals for Crosstix. For those that can’t make the meeting, we will supply notes of the meeting for your benefit. For those that plan to come, feel free to bring your child so we can meet them too!
